When her three children were small, Sharon studied at the University of Ballarat while supporting her family. Sharon has completed a Bachelor of Social Work and an Advanced Diploma in Business Management.
Sharon has extensive experience in the health and community sectors, often assisting those most in need. Before entering Parliament Sharon managed Lifeline in Ballarat. She had previously worked and volunteered at the Centre Against Sexual Assault and in the office of the federal member for Ballarat Catherine King.
Sharon’s work in the community has been widely recognised and she was featured in the Women’s Health Grampians publication “Amongst Ballarat’s Finest: A showcase of achievement and contribution by Ballarat’s women”. Sharon served for more than a decade on the board of Pinarc Disability Services.
Sharon was elected the member for Ballarat West at the 2010 Victorian election replacing long serving member Karen Overington.
