Get advice on pay and conditions

Most employers do the right thing.  But some treat their employees badly and fail to meet their legal obligations for pay, overtime and providing a safe workplace.

This means that people in Ballarat aren’t being paid what they are entitled to, or are being paid cash-in-hand and missing out on important workplace protections.

But help is available if you are not being paid what you are legally entitled.

Where to get information and advice

The Fair Work Ombudsman is an independent organisation that can provide information, advice and assistance to employees and employers about Australia’s workplace laws. The Fair Work Ombudsman can also investigate potential breaches of Commonwealth workplace law.

For information on rates of pay and other entitlements go to www.fairwork.gov.au or call the Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94.

Ballarat Trades Hall runs a free Young Workers Legal Centre.  The Centre provides free legal advice to young people who are concerned about how they have been treated at work.  This advice can be about rates of pay; entitlement to overtime and penalty rates; workplace bullying or injury; or if a young person believes they have been sacked unfairly.

To make an appointment at the Young Workers Legal Centre phone 5332 3666.
